Egyptian army fights terrorism in Sinai




At least 20 armed men were killed on Wednesday evening in an air strike carried out by an Egyptian military aircraft west of Rafah in northern Sinai.
According to the correspondent "Sky News Arab" that the raid carried out in the village of Balaa, also resulted in the destruction of a car of terrorist elements with a missile from a drone while trying to escape from air strikes, killing four militants were inside.

The Egyptian army is conducting military operations to hunt down the terrorists involved in the attack on two military points, last Friday, in Al-Barth area south of the city of Rafah in the province of North Sinai.

The attack on Friday killed at least 26 officers and soldiers of the army, and announced the organization "calling" responsibility for him.

The army and security forces continue combing operations and regular patrols in the cities of Arish, Sheikh Zuwaid and Rafah, and imposed a curfew in some areas of North Sinai.

High security sources expected that the next phase will witness an intensification of air strikes and security raids in the province.
The branch of the Islamic State Organization in the Sinai announced that it was behind the attacks. He said the death toll of the Egyptian army was at least 60.
A statement by the Egyptian military spokesman that the attack came after the success of the forces "to thwart the terrorist attack of the elements of Takfiri on some points of concentration south of Rafah, killing more than 40 Tkfiri, and the destruction of six vehicles."
An Egyptian medical source said that the Egyptian authorities are still conducting exclusively the number of dead, and that some of the injured in serious condition, and the transfer of a number of aircraft to military hospitals in Cairo for treatment.
A security source and a military source told the BBC that the attack was a car bomb, followed by an attack with medium and light weapons and RPG missiles, targeted the remaining members of the security center located in the village of Albarth, 30 kilometers south of the city of Rafah.
The attack targeted battalion 103 lightning, and confirmed the killing of the battalion commander, the commander of the wars of Ahmed al-Mansi.
The source explained that the attack was followed by an exchange of fire between gunmen and security forces, is now conducting operations to hunt down militants, and flying planes in the sky over the area.
The state of Sinai, which belongs to the Islamic State Organization, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
It said in an account on its Telgram that the attacks resulted in "killing and injuring more than 60 Egyptian army."
The EU and a number of Arab and Western countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, condemned the attack in separate statements.
The Sinai Peninsula is the scene of frequent military attacks and operations. On 14 May, an Egyptian army armored vehicle was detonated, killing a lieutenant colonel and wounding three soldiers while performing routine security duties in the central Sinai area.
